How to use
Assess the situation: Evaluate the fire to ensure it is safe for you to attempt extinguishing it. If the fire is spreading rapidly, it is better to evacuate and call the emergency services.
P.A.S.S. technique: Remember the P.A.S.S. acronym, which stands for:
Pull the pin: Pull the pin located on the extinguisher's handle to break the tamper seal.
Aim at the base: Aim the nozzle or hose at the base of the fire. This is where the fuel source is located.
Squeeze the handle: Firmly squeeze the handle to discharge the dry powder agent.
Sweep from side to side: Sweep the extinguisher from side to side, directing the agent at the base of the fire. Move closer as the fire diminishes.
Maintain a safe distance: Stand approximately 6 to 8 feet away from the fire while operating the extinguisher. This distance helps you stay clear of potential heat, smoke, and flying debris.
Watch for re-ignition: After the initial discharge, observe the area to ensure the fire does not reignite. If it does, repeat the process or evacuate if necessary.
Evacuate if necessary: If the fire is not under control, it grows rapidly, or you are unsure how to operate the extinguisher, evacuate the area immediately and call the emergency services.
