The wall structure and mounting hardware must be capable of carrying both the static weight of the reel and hose and the dynamic forces generated during pulling. The reel should be positioned according to the dominant hose travel direction, with sufficient clearance from sharp edges, hot surfaces, moving machinery, and traffic areas.

The fluid connection requires equal attention. The swivel, fittings, hose, and supply line must be compatible with the working medium, pressure, and temperature. The supply pipe should be properly supported rather than using the swivel as a structural support point.

For spring-driven reels, the stored mechanical energy in the spring must also be considered during operation and maintenance. The hose should retract in a controlled manner, and the spring assembly should not be opened without an appropriate service procedure.

A correctly installed wall-mounted hose reel should satisfy four requirements:
