Fire hose reels are suitable for extinguishing initial fires involving Class A carbohydrate materials such as paper, wood, and cotton/linen fabrics. The hose reel consists of components including valves, inlet pipes, spokes, support frames, rocker arms, hoses, and a spray nozzle. It uses water as the extinguishing agent and sprays the extinguishing agent during rapid hose deployment. It is typically installed in indoor fire hydrant boxes and is a new type of fixed indoor fire-fighting device.

Fire hose reel usage instructions

1. Fire hoses are generally installed indoors and should be independently configured to ensure they do not interfere with other equipment and guarantee safety.

2. When using a fire hose, at least two people should be present. First, open the fire hydrant box. One person should take out the hose and other necessary preparations, such as connecting the water supply. The other person should wait to open the water valve to extinguish the fire.

3. Open the box door, operate the fire hose reel, drag the fire hose, open the valve and hose valve to extinguish the fire, and aim at the base of the fire.

What are the specifications and dimensions of fire hose reels?

It can be divided into five styles: water hose, dry powder hose, 1211 hose, CO2 hose, and foam hose.

Different hose reels have different specifications. Generally, the specification for water hose reels is 0.8mm, for dry powder hose reels it is 1.6mm, for 1211 hose reels it is 2.5mm, for CO2 hose reels it is 1.5mm, and for foam hose reels it is 0.8mm.

What are the proper ways to use a fire hose reel?

Fire hoses are generally installed indoors and require a separate installation. Their use will not interfere with other installations, ensuring safety. When using a fire hose reel, two or more people should simultaneously open the fire hydrant box. One person should prepare the water bag and connect the water tap, while the other person should open the water valve to release water and begin extinguishing the fire.

It is important to pay attention to the hose reel's model number, as different models have different rated working pressures. Using an incompatible model will be unsafe. Fire safety awareness campaigns are often conducted in residential areas and other densely populated areas, explaining fire safety procedures and how to protect fire hose reels to prevent aging. Fire hose connections are usually specially designed and dedicated, so they must be carefully protected. If any connection is damaged, it should be replaced immediately.

Fire hydrant box installation specifications and requirements

1. The water outlet of the fire hydrant should preferably be downward or at a 90° angle to the wall where the fire hydrant is installed. The outlet should not be installed on the hinge side of a door.

2. Unless otherwise specified in the design, the center of the outlet should be 0.7m to 1.1m from the ground, but this should be consistent for each building, with an allowable deviation of +20mm.

3. The valve should be positioned for easy operation. The center of the valve should be 140mm from the side of the hydrant box and 100mm from the inner rear surface of the box, with an allowable deviation of +5mm.

4. Indoor fire hydrant boxes should be installed level and securely. Concealed fire hydrant boxes should not compromise the fire resistance rating of the partition wall.

5. The allowable deviation for the verticality of the fire hydrant box installation is +3mm.

6. The opening angle of the fire hydrant box door should not be less than 120 degrees.

7. After the fire hose is tied to the nozzle and quick connector, it should be placed according to the internal structure of the box.
