How to choose fire fighting equipment for different types of fires?
1. To fight Class A fires, that is, solid burning fires, water-type, foam fire extinguishers, ammonium phosphate dry powder fire extinguishers, and halogenated alkyl fire extinguishers should be used. Class A fires: Refers to solid matter fires. This substance tends to be organic in nature and typically produces scorching embers when burned. Such as wood, cotton, wool, hemp, paper fire, etc.
2. Dry powder fire extinguishers, foam fire extinguishers, haloalkane fire extinguishers, and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers should be used to extinguish Class B fires, that is, liquid fires and meltable solid matter fires (it is worth noting here that chemical foam fire extinguishers cannot extinguish Class B polar soluble solvent fires, because When the chemical foam is in contact with the organic solvent, the foam will be quickly absorbed, so that the foam will disappear quickly, so that it cannot play the role of fire extinguishing. Alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, ethers, esters, etc. are all polar solvents). Class B fires: Refers to liquid fires and meltable solid matter fires. Such as gasoline, kerosene, crude oil, methanol, ethanol, asphalt, etc.
3. Dry powder fire extinguishers, halogenated alkane fire extinguishers, and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers should be used to fight Class C fires, that is, gas burning fires. Class C fire: refers to gas fire. Such as coal gas, natural gas, methane, ethane, etc.
4. Fighting Class D fires, that is, metal burning fires. As far as my country's situation is concerned, there is no finalized fire extinguisher product. Foreign fire extinguishers of Class D mainly include powdered graphite fire extinguishers and dry powder fire extinguishers for metal fires. Dry sand or cast iron foam can be used to extinguish the fire if the domestic production of fire extinguishers and fire extinguishing agent beads has not yet been finalized. Class D fire: refers to metal fire. Such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, titanium, aluminum-magnesium alloys, etc.
5. Ammonium phosphate dry powder fire extinguisher and haloalkane type fire extinguisher should be used to fight Class E fires. Class E fire: refers to the fire of charged objects. Such as the generator room, transformer room, power distribution room, instrument room and electronic computer room, etc., the electrical equipment that cannot be powered off in time or should not be powered off when burning is ignited.
6. Put out Class F fires, that is, fires of cooking objects (animal and vegetable fats) in cooking utensils. Do not use water, foam and water-containing substances when extinguishing fire, and use suffocation fire extinguishing method to isolate oxygen to extinguish the fire.
